An educational tour of nature and environment outside the jungle.

Orchid Garden – see over 800 varieties of orchid including the exotic species, thrive abundantly on one hectare of floral paradise.

The Deer Park – located on the Undulating slopes and sprawling valley of the Lake Gardens. Close to a bubbling stream at the edge of the valley are several mousedeer. The mousedeer is the world’s smallest hoofed animal and a popular subject in local folklore due to its legendary wittiness.

The Butterfly Park – the butterfly park houses some 6,000 butterflies of over 120 species. The park is an imitation of the butterfly’s natural habitat. It includes more than 15,000 plants from 100 species that have been used to recreate a Malaysian rainforest atmosphere.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park – the largest bird park in South East Asia, houses thousands of birds representing nearly every major species in this part of the world.

‘Back to nature’

The tour will expose you to the real feeling of being in the tropical rainforest of Malaysia, a guided tour by an expert on Malaysian jungle. This specially designed program is to introduce you to the wonders and the beauty of a primary tropical rainforest all in a day while staying in Kuala Lumpur.

The journey to the tropical rainforest in the outskirts of the city, will take approximately an hour. Along the way you pass through typical Malay Villagers and scenes of friendly people going about their daily chores. Our first stop on the way is the aboriginal museum. Among the displays are weapons used for hunting, clothing made from free barks, traditional musical instruments etc. An introduction of the place and activities will be carried out immediately on arrival before proceeding with jungle trekking by identifying various fruit trees. Test your skill with the blowpipe shooting or fishing (catch and release) at the nearby fresh water pond using the bamboo rod or simply take a dip in the nearby river or in the swimming. Lunch will be served at the jungle resort.

‘Fun and educational’

We begin our tour with National Zoo, the largest zoo in Malaysia and situated just outside the city limits and yet a world away from its hustle and bustle. Located 13 km northeast of Kuala Lumpur, the National Zoo houses some 200 species of animal, bird and reptiles, while the aquarium has 80 species of marine and fresh-water life. Within the extensive grounds is an area for sea lions where visitors can see them being most active during feeding time.

Next, proceed to the Royal Selangor factory where upon arrival, you will be taken for a tour of the Pewter Gallery. The Gallery offers a host of interactive displays and fascinating exhibits, aimed at educating and titillating the sense. From the Gallery, we continue with the highlight of today’s tour – ‘School of Hard Knocks’. Using just a few simple tools (hammer, wooden mould, scraper), make a pewter dish personalised with your initials or message that you wish to engrave onto the dish. Step by step, the experienced pewtersmith will guide you through the simple processes of forming, scraping, polishing and packing. The finished dish is for you to keep, along with an apron as a momento. A personalised certificate will be presented to you to attest to your newfound skills.

‘An adventurous outing’

The journey takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

Kuala Gandah Elephant conservation was established in 1989 by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks. The center is a base for the Elephant Relocation Team, which began the elephant translocation programme in 1974. The only one of its kind in Malaysia, the team is dedicated to locating, subduing and then translocating problem elephants from areas where their habitats are constantly being encroached by plantations and to other suitable habitats throughout the Peninsular such as Taman Negara. Over the past 25 yrs the centre has helped prevent the further declined of the elephant population by relocating more than 300 wild elephants. Tour includes elephant ride, elephant feeding and for those who are brave, we suggest you bring a change of clothes and towel if you wish to participate in water activities such as swimming and bathing the elephants in the river.

‘Entire town, including its roads, build on stilts !’

Depart Kuala Lumpur for Port Klang in an hour – Malaysia’s busiest port. The 30 minute ferry ride offers a panoramic view of the busy harbour and the mangrove swamps of nearby islands.

On arrival at Pulau Ketam, take a leisurely stroll to see how an entire fishing community lives in a village where even the roads are build on stilts. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

After lunch, catch the ferry for return trip to Port Klang. Drive up to view the fabulous palace of the Selangor Sultan.

Visit the Sultan Salahuddin Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque. Capped by one of the largest religious domes in the world, the mosque occupies about 36 acres of beautiful parkland surrounded by the Municipal Council Tower, State Library, State Museum and the Lake Gardens. Stop at Thean Hou Temple before we conclude our tour for the day.
