The closest point-of-entry by air would be at Sandakan. From Sandakan, most visitors take tours out to the river.

You can take any of the Sandakan-Sukau buses or vans, Fare is about RM17 per way.
But the drop off is normally at the mainroad and it is about 6 km (3.72 miles) to the caves, so you might want to pay him a little extra to get dropped off at the information centre.
