Destination Penang or Pulau Pinang ~ Hutton Road ~ Heritage Boutique hotel Room Type The hotel was converted from a cluster of 15 pre-war terraces and shophouses, facing Hutton Lane, Transfer Road and Clarke Street . 5 units Clark Terraces ; 8 Transfer Suites ; 32 Hutton rooms Room Description Each room or suite is individually furnished with antique cabinets, benches and chairs. Softer seating of modern sofas and what the proprietors call "prima donnas", the dramatic classics of mid 20th century furniture design, are also in every room. In every room there is an original piece or more from a well known or emerging artist, as well as original natural history prints and maps that relate to Penang. Every bathroom has a Jacuzzi spa bath and a separate shower. Toiletries are locally made, from craftsmen and women who specialise in the fragrances and products of the region. Clark Terrace ~ A whole terrace house is perfect for family accommodation. Enter from the five foot way through the traditional double layer of doors into the main room, floored with encaustic tiles and furnished with antiques, classic modern pieces and stunning art works. The bar can be fitted out as an operating kitchen for longer stay guests on request. A private Jacuzzi spa in the back garden leaves lots of space for al fresco dining, and your own gate leads to the hotel's inner garden. Two bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs with a balcony overlooking the garden are beautifully decorated with individual pieces of reconstructed antique furniture and the most comfortable beds. You have the choice of ceiling fans or air conditioning, and these houses are suitable for guests to bring their pets... some conditions apply. The internal stairs make these rooms unsuitable for some, but we are sure you will love having a whole house of 140 square meters in the old Penang style. Transfer Suites ~ Above the Spa, the shop and the gallery are eight suites, each with a sitting room, a bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath and separate shower, and a large bedroom. Those on the top floor have two balconies, at the front looking to Penang Hill, and at the back over the garden. Floor areas range between 60 and 70 square meters. The suites are accessible only by stairs, two flights to the double balcony rooms but well worth the climb, and one flight to the others. Hutton Rooms ~ Deluxe rooms of 40 square meters, with a lift and disabled access, are a perfect combination of the best of Penaga at affordable rates. Rooms on the first, second and third floors have balconies, and all have reconstructed Chinese antique furniture, beautiful beds, restored timber floors, Jacuzzi baths and separate showers, and individual art works from emerging or established artists. Penaga Suite is a corner unit on the 1st Floor with a larger area of 60 square meters have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting room. These suites are ideal for families that don't want to deal with stairs.
