For the more energetic among us we can head to Kubang Badak River for some Kayaking. Depending on the tidal conditions we will either begin at the coast and end up river or begin upriver and end down at the coast
After about 40 minutes drive from town you are transported to the mist covered hill sides of Borneo Highlands with undulating terrain dotted by small scale pepper farms where you’ll alight at Bengoh, a delightful Bidayuh village and staging point for journeys by foot or rivers deep into the interiors.
Meander along a river run through the limestone hills amongst the tropical rain forest. Flat water punctuated with Class 1 to Class 2 rapids for a thrilling water ride. Breaks along the way to savour the beauty of the forest and to have a swim in the cold , refreshing mountain water. End at Wind Cave, Bau for the return trip to Kuching.
Kayak through the rain forests between the foothills of soaring limestone mountains. Visit a friendly Bidayuh village at Kg. Danu along the way, traverse rapids and take a swimming and lunch break on a sandy beach bank before reaching Kg. Semadang. After the kayak trip we will proceed to the Semengoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to see the orang utans at feeding time.
This is a perfect opportunity to experience one of Borneo’s beautiful mangrove swamps, in our custom built canoes. Our Canoe guides will teach you the basics of paddling and there will always be a safety boat on hand to assist you. Whilst paddling there may be a chance of seeing a variety of animals. Proboscis Monkeys, Long tailed macaques, Kingfishers, Water Monitor Lizards are often spotted here to name a few
