Our national railway system was laid by the British during the colonial days and is still in operation today. With the improved highways and links, many prefer driving or coaching but going by rail remains a favourite with travellers eager to retrace footsteps of early adventurers.

These railroads link the north with south and east with west. This railway system is also linked with Thailand railroads and travels down to Singapore. Many travellers opt to travel the length of 3 countries ie Thailand - Malaysia - Singapore by rail as one gets to see the countryside at a slower and more relaxing pace.

The railway services from Kuala Lumpur now runs from the KLsentral station- a spanking new yet strangely laid out transportation hub not too far away from our historical train station. The KTM Intercity counters and platforms are on the 2nd floor of the building. DO NOT BE CONFUSED WITH THE KTM komuter which are commuter trains running within the city to the suburbs.

KTM Komuter - Interstate Line

The KTM komuter runs from the old railway station as well as from KLSentral. The Komuter takes passengers to the outer suburbs of Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam and Selangor including Seremban, Negri Sembilan. It is a convenient way to travel especially to avoid traffic during peak hours.

The Komuter runs along 2 routes:

Route 1 = Seremban - Rawang route

Route 2 = Sentul - Port Klang route

You can either purchase the tickets at the ticketing machines or at a ticketing counter. The KTM komuter at KLsentral is located on Level 1 and is open from 6.30am - 11.00pm everyday
