P.S. The best view on this side of Fraser's is at the Brinchang bungalow; another old colonial bungalow right next to the Clifford's (Jelai). Brinchang was originally called Dacres after its first owner, Dacres H.Wise. It sits on a narrow lip of land, and has a wonderful and unobstructed view of the entire valley below and the hills in the distance. Unlike Pekan/Par where individual rooms are available for rent, the Jelai/Clifford , Brinchang/Dacres and Temerloh/Wray are rented out as complete units. Another pretty colonial bungalow available for rent is the Raub or Kindersley Bungalow. Within walking distance from the Shahzan Inn, Kindersley was named after R.C.M Kindersley, the gentleman largely responsible for the success of Fraser's Hill. All the bungalows mentioned include modern facilities such as satellite channels with HBO, MTV, cartoon network etc. There is hot and cold water in the bathrooms, board games for the bored, and tables tennis on the patio to work up an appetite for dinner. A nice old fireplace functions well - so bring some marshmallows and sweet potatoes to warm the evenings. Oh and bring your own firewood. Bring your own wine too, selections at the Chinese restaurant are limited and expensive. Meals can also be arranged with the housekeepers.
All bungalows Pekan have housekeepers. These housekeepers also double up to provide guests with simple meals, barbeque or steamboat upon request. The rates above are for accommodation only. Food and drinks are priced on their menu.
